The LOOP model & LOOP BRIDGE app
Loop is an innovative new collection model and system for forwarder machine operators in the forestry industry. By utilising and repurposing log data collected by the harvester machine and saw mill the Loop system dynamically plans the collection route for the forwarder operator and takes the mental load of the machine operator. By having the system carry out planning and guidance the operator can focus on the joyful part of the job, collecting logs.

Steps in the project
--------------------------------
DESIGN APPROACH:
Ethnographic research, co-creation, data analysis, flow charts, communication mapping, concept verification.
--------------------------------
WHAT I'VE LEARNED:
Tools for ethnographic research, wizard of Oz techniques, model making(Arduino, Soldering), filming in studio(green screens), video editing tools(Premiere pro, After effects), clickable prototype tools(Flinto for Mac, Sketch app)
--------------------------------
Behind the scene
During this design exercise heavy focus was put on ethnographic research to understand the industry. We conducted field observations, operator ride alongs, operator interviews... and analysed the gained material through building personas, communication mapping, and conducting task analyses. For the purpose of presenting and validating the loop model we built a forwarder machine cockpit(joystick and pillars) and as part of an individual graphic design course I have made a clickable on-boarding app prototype for people to test at the final presentation.
