Bookify
Bookify is product of an imaginary company that brings critically acclaimed books right to peoples phones. It allows people to quickly and easily digest new knowledge, expanding perspectives and feeds their mind. The challenge of this case study was to create a mobile platform that would inspire people to explore new books and dive into the unknown with ease, while maintaining a playful and inviting tone of voice.
Design PROCESS
In order to combat the short project timeline (5 days) I approached the creation of this new engaging mobile book exploration experience for people with a human centred design approach. This meant I quickly dived deep in the context of book exploration by conducting in depth interviews with avid readers & literature professionals, I shadowed people in order to observe how they go about book exploration in the physical world, as well as conducted analogous research in gastronomy and talked with foodies & wine experts to understand how the content of a beverages can be introduced to a people prior to them actually experiencing the product. Based on the gathered insights I created low fidelity concepts that I validated with interview participants and let the findings of that and a co-creation exercise lead my final design directions.
The final concept was built with Sketch & Principle and consists of three main features: ENGAGE, EXPLORE & ARCHIVE. The product allows people to have the desired quick glimpse of the books content by merely holding the book cover, presents people with the most recent read books but doesn’t overload them by fallowing “less is more“principle and shows only one book per genre, and on top of that allows people to explore new books based on their desired mood, or to directly search for content similar to their favourite author or book.
